While I can't in good conscious recommend the 1984 Dune movie, I did find Jodorowsky's Dune (2013 documentary) to be a fascinating look at a movie that wasn't (soundtrack by Pink Floyd, starring Salvador Dali, Orson Welles, and Mick Jagger and so on). It leans heavy into the weirdness of Dune something that was definitely lacking from Lynch's (and Villeneuve's) efforts.

Thanks for this comment, Vinny! It was encouraging and I did manage to watch Jodorowsky's Dune and publish about Dune. What I would give to spend a few hours with that book of story boards and concept art!

There’s no shortage of what I want to talk about! I’m reading a lot and watching a lot. The problem is attention span and staying committed to an idea long enough to write about it. A friend recently described me as a hummingbird - lots of energy - but I think it applies to my flitting around frantically from one thing to the next as well. Any other hummingbirds out there?
