Great work, Kyle, and kudos for calling out the monster in the White House, even though it will likely cost you some subscribers. People will tell you to “stay in your lane” and other nonsense; I hope you’ll continue to speak from the heart.
Thanks Rick, I’m not trying to antagonize anyone, just work through these contradictions and decide how to respond. I tend to lose a handful of subscribers each week no matter what I say.
I do understand the issue, Kyle. I feel a deep embarrassment when I see what is going on with the idolatry of the political. How did we get so far from this Scripture?
if you pour yourself out for the hungry
and satisfy the desire of the afflicted,
then shall your light rise in the darkness
and your gloom be as the noonday.
And the Lord will guide you continually
and satisfy your desire in scorched places
and make your bones strong;
and you shall be like a watered garden,
like a spring of water,
whose waters do not fail.
And your ancient ruins shall be rebuilt;
you shall raise up the foundations of many generations;
you shall be called the repairer of the breach,
the restorer of streets to dwell in.
Isaiah 58:10-12 (ESV)
It truly feels that a large segment of people who consider themselves Christians pour themselves out for their own appetites and satisfy the desires of their addictions.
But that doesn't have to be me. This passage (and another in Jeremiah 16 regarding seeking the paths to the old ways) hit me hard yesterday with a big ol' "YES! This is what it means to follow Jesus!" But then I remembered that Isaiah was writing to the hard-hearted Israelites, and parallels can be made.
As a recovering Catholic, I have that same perspective RE: the way I was raised and how the people who taught those teaching somehow lost the plot. But I got more out of watching my kid search for plastic eggs than I ever got out of a sermon, so.
Also: Dying to see Sinners. You got a playlist of songs from the movie or Spotify link?
Hey Vinny, I would avoid the music for now. Wait until you can see the movie and hear it in context, then you can binge the playlist and conjure up everything you felt while watching.
Ok, ok I’ll go see this movie with you! You make a compelling case ❤️

Indeed
I can't wait to see Sinners. The music alone...
As for the issues with the hypocrisy of political evangelicals, never let the idiocy of men stand between God and you.
Thanks Bob, I needed your comment.

Love this, Kyle! And I can't wait to see what you create. We also loved Sinners!
I love this post, and I loved Sinners! I need to see it again!
Thanks Justin, I’ll go with you!
