Into Thin Air was a very entertaining book. I don't dive into much nonfiction, but this was one any fiction reader could also enjoy. The way Krakauer laid out the narrative was super compelling. I could hardly put the book down.
Krakauer writes well. His honesty about how much isn't known about the tragedy because literally everyone involved from Base Camp and above were not at their peak mental health (pun unusually unintentional), was an important "disclaimer," and a surprise in the nonfiction world.
Going along with your wife's point about the gifts of book recommendations, Krakauer's Into the Wild about Christopher McCandless is another really good read, and good movie adaptation.
Great point, Bob. I didn't really talk much about his writing, but it is so natural and captivating. And the way he confused one person for another due to his mental state - wild. I probably would have left that out. I feel like I can trust that he's putting it all out there, warts and all.
I will for sure check out Into the wild, both book and film. I am determined to read all Krakauer.

I totally agree. It read like fiction which made it all the more compelling. He's an excellent writer. Reminds me of how Grisham writes non-fiction.
Into The Silence by Wade Davis is an absolute must
So many "Into The..." titles! Thanks Brian.
pretty unique, its about the early Mallory expeditions to Everest from the north through Tibet, but also ties it into the climbers WWI experiences...

What a beautiful and thoughtful gift!
I read the book last year, too. I really don't understand how people can still try to climb mount Everest!!
Nice present, by the way. Happy birthday.
That is so cute and thoughtful!
